It is widely cultivated as a decorative houseplant. Phalaenopsis amabilis is native to Maritime Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and Australia. Phalaenospsis amabilis is one of the three national flowers of Indonesia, where it is known as anggrek bulan means "moon orchid".
